姜苦乐（John Clark），悉尼大学艺术史荣誉退休教授。主要研究方向包括明治时期以来的现代日本艺术、中国学院绘画和先锋派、欧美以外地区的艺术现代性问题、20世纪八九十年代的中国和泰国艺术、双年展和当代亚洲艺术，以及对“亚洲现代”的重新定义等。其主要著作有The Asian Modern（2020），Modernities of Japanese Art（2013），Asian Modernities: Chinese and Thai Art Compared, 1980 to 1999（2010），Modernities of Chinese Art（2010），以及Japanese Exchanges in Art 1850s To 1930s: With Britain, Continental Europe, and the USA（2001）等。其中，Asian Modernities: Chinese and Thai Art of the 1980s and 1990s获得了2011年度澳大利亚与新西兰艺术协会的最佳艺术图书奖（Best Art Book Prize）。
