Based on the international touring exhibition Discordant Harmony Observations of Artistic Practices in East Asia at the Transition between the 1980s and the 1990s (November 4, 2017 to February 4, 2018), this catalogue analyzesEast Asian art in four different countries and regions, China, South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan, with a focus on the turning point in the 1980s and 1990s. The catalogue integrates and transforms the exhibition cases and the individual practices scattered throughout the gallery space into texts and images. The cooperation of the four curators establish a temporary shared community that enables us to imagine what “Asia” was and will be in the future.
