Artist: Courtney Stock
13: 00-14: 00, November 4
Meeting point: Reception, Inside-Out Art Museum
Courtney Stock is an American artist based in Boston, Massachusetts. Her hybrid works combine the physicality of sculpture with the concerns of painting. Stock is the current artist-in-residence at the Inside-Out Art Museum and welcomes the public to her studio on Sunday, November 4 at 1:00pm. During this open studio, Stock will give an overview of her art practice and share her newest work from her time in residency in Beijing. This recent work blends the visual languages of painting and fibers, resulting in woven canvases and felted wall sculptures. Stock will address the role of play and solitude in her studio practice, the experience of creating while abroad, and reflections on her future directions.
Stock received her MFA from Massachusetts College of Art & Design, a Post-Baccalaureate certificate from San Francisco Art Institute, and a BA in Visual Arts & Art History from Bowdoin College. Her work has been shown at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, CA, the Bakalar and Paine Gallery in Boston, Massachusetts, the Diego Rivera Gallery in San Francisco, CA, and at the 2017 Kochi-Muziris Biennale in Kerala, India. In August 2018, Stock was an artist-in-residence at Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, Vermont.
